Some surprising things when you arrive in Netherlands

Hey Everyone !
Here are some things that we found surprising when we arrive here :

First of all, people are taller than (most of) us, and they have amazing hair cut! (Pictures coming soon maybe)

The stairs are really (really) steeper compared with France.
I really had to watch my step the first week !

In the parc, we don't see only ducks, but also rabbits, roosters and  hens.

What about bikes? They are everywhere! We saw big bike parks, near to the station and the university.
In the streets there are roads for cars, roads for bikes, roads for walkers.

You could see some motorcycle or scooter on the bike’s path, and most of the time they don’t have any crash helmet!

Dutch people seem to enjoy fried food, and they don’t really care about what they eat. They eat the dinner about 18 o’clock, and then begin their evening, so they go to bed not too late even when they party with friends.
As a consequence, I and my housemates almost never eat at the same time
(too bad, it always smells really good)

You can have some free coffee in shops. Everything is closed at 6 p.m., but open on Sunday, Saturday and Monday.

You can’t expect to use a cheque to pay something: it is cash or card
(pay attention: Visa and MasterCard cannot be used everywhere!).

They don’t care about some centimes, you can buy something that costs 15.02€ with 15€ or pay 15€ for something that cost 14.95€

Students and teacher are often friends on facebook. At the university, you are allowed to arrive late, it doesn’t matter. You can also eat, drink, use your computer, leave the room to go to the toilet.

Most of surprises,  but not bad, I enjoy being surprised !

We are arrived safe and sound, without accident or suitcase in less !
The roadtrip with Laetitia and Justine was pretty chaotic but very funny.
We have lost our way when we have crossed Paris, and we have lived a few scares in Belgium where the drivers do all and anything  ! They pass on the left AND on the right !
And Camille arrived by train without any problems.

Friday 24th, we had a day of integration. In the morning, we were given some paper to fill out and divided into two groups. With students in our class, ERASMUS also, we have visited both buildings of the campus, which is huge compared to ESAIP. They took us to Breda and the Avans sports club called the BRESS.

At the BRESS, we did a pubquiz, and my team, the Froggies are came ended up in second place. They offered us the evening meal and drinks ! I find, that we had a very good integration.

After just one week, we are well integrated us at Breda's city. Even if all of us doesn't have a bike.
With the integration day, we have met a lot of people from different cultures : Latvian, Polish, German, Italian, French, English, ... .

We have gone out, at parties in night-clubs with the students met.
The night-life was very different than in Angers because there are many foreigners and an important student life. Every night, if you go in the center, you find students.

And the parties are not finished, because the week of March 3rd begin The Carnaval during one week.
See you the 3rd =)
